VANU is a project of iteratively developing a plan to build a Vancouver-based food magazine and community for the most passionate foodies. This project was accomplished by a team of four individuals.

Team Building

Our team members got to know each other and confirmed each other’s roles and responsibilities before we proceeded to build the plan for our magazine enterprise. I was initially elected the marketer of the VANU team.

Drafting the Outline

Our team decided on our target audience together and drafted our enterprise mission statement and value proposition. Each member also carried out individual tasks.

As the marketer, I researched the audience and the market and created personas of the target audience and sample posts for our social media channels (Instagram & TikTok). Our publisher researched the competitors in our niche and provide a brief description of each competitor. Our editor came up with our editorial strategy and example headlines for our stories. Our designer drafted the logo and the landing page for our enterprise.

Resolving Crisis

As we move forward after drafting the outline for our magazine enterprise, a crisis arose a week before we had to present our project. VANU’s team designer took a surprising leave of absence and declined to offer the team anything to work with in the design section. As a result, things became a little chaotic, and we were dangerously close to not delivering the project on time. I decided to take initiative and quickly pick up the responsibilities of the designer of VANU. I planned the schedule and work distribution for the team, ensured clarity on individual work and team communication, and redesigned the logo and the landing page of VANU.

Polishing & Submission

Our team kept researching and consulting to perfect our plan to build VANU. My three teammates and I revised our mission statement and value proposition and revised our individual parts accordingly. After receiving all members’ deliverables, I scripted, designed, and recorded the presentation and finalise it with Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro for submission.
